Beit Jala and Jesus

a taxi speeds around the corner
young boys playing in the street
small coffee cups
cold floors that break everything
pretty scarfs and tall boots
gloves with no finger tips

cheap bread
mabruke chocolate galore
spray paint pictures
a million handwritten notes
and everyone's name is miss

church bells, calls to prayer
stain glass and stone
Jesus did this here stories
pilgrims from afar
everyone is related
and America means disney world

never ending questions
never ending adventure
no real address
living in a school
never would I have thought
that I could call this home.

But I said it today. And I realized that I meant it:
My home is where you are.

I find you here
calling a name I never knew.
seeking and finding
wrapped up so tight
I have to hold on to you here
so I'm discovering what it means
that I GET to.

  1. I love you! And am so proud of you....I have come to that realization, too, and I needed the reminder.
