living water

Its funny how much you learn to appreciate what you have when you simply live without running water for a day. It was really only a day this time and was turned back on right after Alabama beat Arkansas ( at 2 in the morning our time). I kept going to put soap on my hands to wash them only to be reminded that nothing would come out of the faucet. It's the dry season and the water company occasionally turns it off when they start to get low. But when it comes back on, it's a glorious event. I was jumping up and down, washing clothes, doing dishes, brushing my teeth without a water bottle. Before I lived here I never thought twice about the luxury of running water.
So often we find things to fill up the spaces in our heart that only Christ was meant to hold. So often these things leave us disappointed and bewildered. We are jaded and left dry. Water that seemed good can no longer satisfy. We turn on the faucet one day expecting our thirst to be quenched to find nothing.

John 4:13-14
Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

Last Friday I visited Samaria, where Jesus visited the woman at the well and offered her the Living water. Oh how I long for that living water that does not run dry . Thank You Jesus for the gift of eternal life. May I dwell in your presence forever. Keep my heart from chasing after the well that runs dry and my eyes focused on your goodness.
